Mariam Muwanga

Mariam Muwanga is mentor and lecturer of undergraduate students at the University of Wuppertal. She is a postdoctoral researcher at Wuppertal’s Center for Narrative Research. She studied Geography, German and English Philology in Kampala (Uganda) and Wuppertal (Germany). She holds a PhD in Black British Literature and Culture.

Mariano Bottaccio, journalist and press officer at CNCA, plans and coordinates editorial and communication activities at CNCA. For Opportunities he provides support with communication and dissemination strategies for the project, in CNCA communication channels and with relevant stakeholders.

Mary Boatemaa Setrana

Professor Mary Boatemaa Setrana is the Director of the Centre for Migration Studies, University of Ghana. She is an Associate Professor of Migration and Social Change at the Centre for Migration Studies of University of Ghana. She is the West Africa Chair on Forced Displacement funded by IDRC.Mary Setrana is a member of a number of migration governance advisory groups and networks including  International Advisory Board of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence on Migration & Mobility,  and the Center for Forced Displacement in Boston University. She is the Principal investigator (for Ghana ) for several projects including African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) projects on Cluster of Excellence on Interdisciplinary Peace Research, and Migration and Health and the Horizon Europe Link4Skills funded by UKRI and EU respectively. Her research interest includes migration and gender, forced displacement and environmental change, youth migration and aspirations. She has facilitated migration (ie National migration and labour migration) policy development in several African countries including Botswana, Zambia and Malawi among others.

Michel Debruyne

Michel Debruyne

Michel Debruyne is senior advisor at beweging.net and coordinates the informal network of the ‘Alliances to Fight Poverty’ and is responsible for developing position papers, policy briefs and publications of the Alliance to Fight Poverty.From 2015 till March 2019 Michel Debruyne was network coordinator of the H2020 project RE-InVEST.Till February 2021 he also coordinated the REC H2020 project REGAL. Since January 2023 Michel Debruyne is coordinator of the Horizon project Involve.

Michel Debruyne is now general coordinator of OPPORTUNITIES and team leader of the methodological work, the qualitative work as well as the art based translation.

Paula Cruz

Paula Cruz, has a degree in Sociology and a Master in Sociology and Local Policies. Policy Officer in the Research and Projects Department of EAPN Portugal (European Anti-Poverty Network). Responsible for coordinating the European projects and policies unit. In this moment is coordinating Project Opportunities and teams with Inácia Sá. In EAPN Portugal is also responsible for following social policies at national and European level and represents EAPN Portugal in EAPN Europe in the EU Inclusion Strategies Group. Some specific areas of work: poverty; minimum income; food deprivation; migration; energy poverty and ageing.

Riccardo Poli

Riccardo Poli, CNCA director, coordinates CNCA projects and strategic developments at national and European level. He is trained in pedagogy and has more than 20 years’ experience in the development and quality standards for welfare services in Italy with particular attention for young people. He implements research, training and dissemination activities and has spoken in a number of seminars and events. For Opportunities he provides support to the management of the project and links between the European work and national work at CNCA.
